NOah,

Last time I checked the cargraphic (?) aux oil cooler was near $2k without the install, check the GT Oil cooler on carnewal.com). I went with the cheaper solution and the parts were $1,200 and then I did the install which could easily take a shop 3+ hours. There aren't a lot of solutions out there for the 993, but if you are going to track the car it is needed or the oil temps will get too high.

Thanks, John. I added them to the list.

Good call. I missed that.

2,000 sounds VERY expensive when you could source your own parts from Pegasus or any number of sites and follow the directions on p-car/DIY. I personally found a great deal on a Turbo S cooler and once I get my car back I'm going to install it.

Mark, no worries I was just giving you a hard time.

Pat,

Check the archives. The general consensus is that the Tubo S cooler is not up to the task of reducing the thermal issues of a 993 track car. IIRC, the lines are too small, as well. I have the Cargraphic cooler and, although it's pricey, have not had any overheating issues with the car. The RUF cooler is supposed to be very similar to the Cargraphic but not as expensive.

Hope to see you at the track next year.

DAGGER, it figures I went down the wrong path. I'll have to look into the RUF cooler or fab something before this summer

We'll have to schedule a track trip this year.

You may be able to get by w/ a smaller aftermarket of turbo S cooler, but the big GT2 cooler is the best solution by far, It's a straight bolt on w/ or w/o AC condenser.

Unfortunately the $ to Euro ratio has not been kind to US enthusiasts. This past spring they were a bit north of ~$1.2k, more recently closer to ~$1.7K

Keep the GT3 and get DE insurance?

Not sure if you can get that in the US, but it's easily available in the UK. In, fact my annual car insurance comes with free Porsche Club GB track day cover.

<edit> Added about ten more people to the lists.

DE 993's:
Ken Shahoian
Hank Cohn
Rick Betterley
Chuck Price
Tom Trew
Pat aka Patfat
Rob aka AC993C2S
Don Plumley
David Gast
Ralf Brueckner
Plus at least two other cars in our region whose drivers' names I do not know

Race 993's:
Mark Lee
Todd Bernard
Sam Nikoomanesh
Skip Boykin
Danny J
Tim Holt
Jamie Levy
George Abdalla
Raymond Lum
Brent Johnson
Rod Johnson
Pete Debusmann
Rob King
Bob Turgeon
Wes Taylor
Dave Hinkle
Dennis O'Keefe
Jack Borys
Joe Lash
Martin Bour
Greg Fishman's old car
Bill Walczak's old car (stock, street car turned into C class car, then turned into GT2R car)
Sasha Clark
Christian Maloof

These lists are just the 993 club race drivers that I can think of, as well as the 993 DE guys who I know or know of. I'm sure there are a ton more our there who never post on Rennlist.

Mark,
You missed my two favorite. Phil Blackstone and Carl Brensinger's 993RSCSs. Along with Rod Johnson's, the only real RSCSs in club racing. Great cars.

Here's a shot of Phil and I at Daytona last year.

Jim,

I thought of them but wanted the list to only include cars that started out life as a 993 street car. Both of those cars are factory cars, yes?

I also forgot about your old 993 race car and Mac McGhee's old 993 car.

Good point. Then I guess you should remove Rod Johnson. I'm pretty sure his green car is a factory RSCS.

OR, on RSA #2 I just pulled the cooler from the wrecked car and sandwiched it in against the a/c condenser (removed the fan.......gotta shut the a/c off if I'm idling about) like you guys have done with the "real" coolers. Made up some braided lines, bought some adapters. Less than $200? Optimal? Probably not. Realistic solution if you're on a budget? Sure.

Kim put a new 96420722002 on the yellow car, same thing, right??

Thanks, Jim. I wasn't sure about Rod's car.
