Default C2S on ebay

My dad found this on ebay and he's going ape**** over it. Can anyone comment on it or offer any pros/cons? I don't know much about 993s except the 96-98 had vram and obd2, and that carbon clogging problem. I think I read something about a better suspension too.

Anyway, this is a gray market car, and I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing. TIA for all your advice!

LOL.

Here's a six-page thread on that car:

Run, Forrest, run.

He seems to have a bit of an attitiude, and there are a few flags on the listing, like why doesn't he have the original rear bumper too? That is an area to look for damage. Also, I would see about getting another California smog check as part of the PPI to make sure you won't have any problems down the road. Turbo badge and Techart bits can be replaced easily enough. Broken power seat and sunroof should also be fixed or negotiated in the deal. If he really wants it, I would suggest that he drive down and look at it in person, then arrange a PPI with a reputable shop. There should be lots in the LA area.

Edit: I didn't realized there was another thread, but lots of food for thought in it. Definitely read it.

Just have your dad ask him about the 'glowing' recommendations for this car on Rennlist....

Run away from it. The 20,000 miles might be since the time it was imported into the US and got new gauges, which was '02, IIRC. There are probably a LOT more miles on it. Too many unresolved issues, too much seller BS and no records. Someone else on RL reported seeing it within the past couple of weeks and it didn't look good.

It's been on the market for a long time. He had it sold on eBay, but the buyer backed out. I'd imagine that the buyer went to pick it up and had a surprise.

It might not hurt to look if he's going to be in the area, but don't build up too much hope.

One day someone might buy this particular car without having had visited us first on Rennlist. He or she will then join us with info and photos of this car only to have their bubble busted. The only way this car would be worth a dime is if it was bought for a dime. Too fishy.

Wow. I can't thank you all enough! You guys just saved us a $42000 headache! I love this place...

My dad is very impulsive and emotional when it comes to seeing and wanting, so I'll have to work at it to get him to forget this car, but I'll do whatever it takes. I don' wanna touch that car! So the search continues...

There IS a price for ever car (house/dog/woman(???.........that'll get me in trouble). If someone here said they bought the car for $19900, I don't think he'd be the subject of ridicule. I do submit the likelihood of that happening is near zero........

I totally agree Ken. From all the BS this guy has shown us here on rennlist, we know that he is convinced that his car is worth a lot of money.

Looks like he's been trying to sell it for a long time... I wonder how long it will take to sell.
