993s or Convertible
Hello,
I am in search for a 993s or a Convertible with low miles (under 40000).
I was looking on the interent and so some cars at Victory Motorcars but after I have read some posts regarding that shop I have many doubts to buy a car from them and I have no way to check out the car before I buy it ( I am located in Charleston, SC). Does anyone live near that shop and looks at the cars regularly?
Does any one else know of any 993 either C2s or C4s or convertible with under 40000 miles and under $50000.
Thanks for the help
Dan

Hi,
I don't know much about that shop - any shop is dubious to me! What I can suggest is that you do not invest $40-$50K in car that you have not seen, tested and checked in person before hand. It would be a worthwhile investment for you to pay the airfare and accommodations to do all these in person.
Look around in the Craigslist, Autotrader, local papers, etc. - there are many privately owned 993s out there and if you find something you like, go see it. Unless you've found a great deal you can't ignore, I would buy locally.
I hope this helps!

Convertibles go for less than regular coupes, so you won't have any issues there. The "S" Model cars will be difficult to find below $50K [though it is probably possible] at the upper end of your mileage spectrum. Be patient and look around a lot; there are plenty of cars out there.
Thank you very much for the tips.
I will look locally and look in the for sale section here.
I also want to look at the car myself before I buy it but all the cars I have seen that I was interested so far are either in Texas or in California.
Are the any good Dealers in a 300 mile range of Charleston,SC?
Thanks,
Dan

Dan,
I also suggest you contact Larry and Ryan Daniel at Motorcar Investments in Raleigh, NC.
Larry does this for sport (he doesn't need the money) and can likely find any p-car that you're interested in. I've bought three p-cars from Larry always with a big
(Ryan is his son, by the way, and also a great guy.)
Also sold some cars through Larry, often w/o any charge on his part. An amazingly great guy.

He also has an associated "co-located" business -- European Performance -- that is one of the best indy porsche shops in the area.
Larry stands by what he sells and offers a warranty too.
I have no financial association with Larry and Ryan, just a very satisfied past customer.

hate to reveal my real identity here on RL, but anyway... say Tom Conte sent you.

Drive a 993 cab with the top down on a sunny day at 60 or 65'F and you will never want to drive anything else...
The fun factor on a cab is many times higher than on a coupe.
Nobody is thinking on an investment when buying a 993, but look at the actual prices of a 356 coupe compared to a 356 Cabrio...
Go for it!!
