Default door window strip

On my 993 C2S ’97 I have some corrosion on the aluminium strip that that is below the side window left door. IE you get the window, a rubber seal and than an aluminium strip before the plate work starts. The corrosion is at the mirror end, over a length of approximately 1 inch. It looks like typical corrosion pushing up the black paint but partly going underneath the rubber seal.

I have the following questions:

Is there a product I could use to stop this (aluminium) corrosion?
I might need to get a professional job done but are thinking to remove the strip myself, any instructions somewhere?

I tried to do a search but had issues with not knowing the name for this strip

Thanks

They all have this. It was not covered by the Porsche anti-corrosion warranty.

Buy a new strip, it's not very difficult to replace as far as i recall. It's the ones along the base of the rear side windows that are a little more involved, but even they are not that hard to replace. As I recall the rear side window strips were about £35 each, I haven't replaced the fronts as they were in good order, but I would imagine that they wouldn't be too much more.

The door strips are about £65 each and relatively easy to fit but the strips under the quarters over the rear wing require the side glass out. There's also the danger that the paint on the wing might be damaged if the glass is taken out without considerable care!
Dont ask how I know :-/

Thanks for the replies, a new one seems to be the way to go. Any more knowledge on the mounting of the strip? Lower window and just clip on or does the internal door panel have to come off ?

I'm sure it just clips on, there are square holes along the top of the door panel for the clips to pop into. Use some black electrical tape under the strip and poke the holes for the clips to protect the paint.
