Default Embarrasing moments

I caught a lot of grief on this board for telling you all about my experience with the 993 and other...well... pedestrian cars.

Anyway, this video shows other more modern cars being schooled by tuned junk. Im not sure I believe it and it looks like the 996 turbo still had an upper hand.

Im sure initial response from the board is that it does not make reasonable sense to do this since the supercar owner can never win in these bouts, but sometimes emotion gets in the way of common sense.

Excuse me if this does not make sense to you, but Im sure it does to the ones on the board that remember the PT story.... Anyway hope its not a re-post...

It looks staged to me. It doesn't look like they were going that fast, because the camera would have been way more bummpier.

What a lame video, even my 86 yr old grandmother is fast in a straight line. My fav is when challenged by a ghetto racer (honda civic), is act like I'm going to go for it then don't pull the trigger but the best is when I get one to follow me into some serious twisties and leave him eating my dust.

Very light weight. Very low drag. A CRX with a big turbo could easily be a monster in highway acceleration contests where chassis and traction don't matter.

Grief?? I don't remember any grief??

Hey TJ...after meeting you at the Callas Tech session, it took me until the evening to remember the PT posts you had mentioned. Ha!!

Anyway, to the link, I guess what they say about an idiot born every minute is yet again proven true. Having owned a CRX before, I can assure you that car cannot stop, and would fail miserably in an accident. But then again, as much as our cars were designed for speeds in excess of 170, they certainly were not designed to stop abruptly from that speed. No fire suppression, no harnesses, no helmet, no cage. Something to keep in mind when a kid wants to race ya. And your point about emotions getting in the way of common sense is certainly true. Guilty here!! I've heard it referred to as the red haze at the track. It's a learning process, but definitely part of the "personality" that needs to be harnessed to get ahead at the track. Applies to the street just as well. (And to be clear, that's not grief I'm giving you...just thoughts to ponder)

Are you kidding? "ghetto" like "ricer" and "rednecks" are associated with specific groups of people.
