Default "Werks" Program

Apparently Porsche has a program where you can return your vintage Porsche to Weissach and they will restore it back to its absolutely original condition.

I suspect they charge a mint, but the concept is really appealing.

Has anyone used this service or looked into the costs and what else is involved?

Rome,

you must have missed the green Monroe shocks in the 1970 rebuild photos! I have mine in the garage if you "really" want them!

But seriously, it does look like a cool program.

Wouldn't do it for my current car because there's not much to do (that couldn't be done here for relatively small $$), but it gives me a little something to think about for a possible future purchase.

The idea or getting a car back from the factory, in original factory conditon, restored to Porsche standards where it was originally built, is pretty neat. But again, I'm sure they make you pay handsomely for the pleasure.

One of those links does suggest that you can get vintage parts.

But of course...I don't expect my 06 Cayenne to be a classic until 2015 or there abouts.

Shouldn't you be watching the Patriots on MNF anyway.

Nope, don't really get into Patriots/Red Sox.....my wife does. She could use a tranquilizer dart occasionally, as she tends to really get into the game.
I'm hiding in the basement, searching for a car.

They're all doing it now. Ferrari, does it in Marenello and Mercedes does it in Cali. Send it to them and they put it back to factory specs, certified it etc. you can get a total restore if the car needs it.

Very curious to going that way next year, at least for an estimate. They will be fully operational in feb or march 2008 depending on the inauguration of the museum, since the workshop will be in the same building (could reach late 2008). They are just taking reservations for now, and my vin is on the list.

Geo, what exactly are they going to do with your C2S? I think it was pretty much as close to stock as you can get? Am I missing something here?

That slide show documenting the 911 restoration is awesome!
If I had an early 911 and a lot of $$$, I'd want the factory to do the restoration.
