Center console switches
Hi Guys,
Are the bulbs inside the 2 black switch covers in the center console(where the sunroof, hazard etc switches connect) replaceable. Any ideas.? Those lights that tell you what each switch does. i have the one for the sunroof working but the rest are all off - not lightin up.
Thanks,
Najeeb

Najeeb,
There is one bulb assembly for each set of switches (upper 964 632 130 01 or lower 993 632 062 03). However, there are different cover pieces which correspond to the different option configurations (993 632 071 10 ... 20). My guess is that if only your sunroof light only is lit then you might have cover #15 (look at p. 391 of the PET). Try looking with a flashlight to see if the other indicators are present but just not lighting, or if they're not even present at all. If that's the case, then it's simply a matter of replacing the cover. If you have spots that aren't lighting, then you're looking at a new bulb assembly.
I looked into this myself because I only have an indicator for the spoiler, even though I also have the sunroof and rear wiper. Sounds like you might be having a similar issue.

thanks dave,
are you saying that the combined lights for each cover should be replaced according to the option avaiable?
99363206203 (upper) and 96463213001 (lower )

Each set of three lamps is mounted on a miniature circuit board. It might be possible (if either you have long thin fingers, or your mate is a gynaecologist) to replace individual lamps with mini LEDs. I tried that but the LEDs were quite a bit brighter, and that was even more annoying than having one bulb out!!

if the led is too bright just add a series resistor to one leg...use this site to calculate the value required...might need to try a few values to get a good brightness match.

hope this helps!

I used something like this and just soldered the light to the circuit board. Since these are wire connectors, in lieu of the more rigid pin connector on the board now, you will have to individually place them back into the holder when reassembling.

thanks guys.
i managed to pull out the circuit boards from the covers. it was very simple but its very hard to find those small bulbs out here. i found some but when i tested them, they were too bright and became very hot. ill try to find some resistors to lower the brightness.
thanks again for the advice and help.
