Default Central Florida - Nort Northam experience?

Anyone have any experience with this dealer? Going to look at a 993 there this week and just wondering if anyone had dealt with them in the past or can give any info on them

thanks!

I have known him for over 20 years. He is a nice guy to deal with.

I bought my car there. He is a consignment dealer. He was very pleasant and pretty easy to deal with. Buyer beware though, he's out to sell a car and asks top dollar - up to you to inspect. And it's not his car so it's easy for him to say, "the car is perfect!" I don't think Nort would lie to you but he will tell you this generality for every car in his lot. Cars aren't generally gone over - in fact when I test drove my car it was pretty dirty and they didn't appear to do anything to make the car look or run better (which is maybe a good thing for inspecting).

I thought the deal we agreed on was fair, expecting some maintenance after a minimal PPI (brought a mechanic). In retrospect would've gone another 1 or 2K lower with a major PPI - engine very sound but a couple of age-related issues we should've spotted - rack was leaking but not enough to see unless you pulled off the cover (got quite a bit worse a month later...).

I would buy another car there. There were a number of guys there who were on their second, third or fourth purchase of a car from him.

I believe my car came from him as well, via the previous owner and so far its been great.

Thanks for the tips. Anything you can suggest to look at that may not be a common thing to look for would be great.

Default Nort History

In 1995, Nort drove a '95 993 off the showroom floor and with very simple modifications (brake pads, etc) completed the 24 Hours of Daytona and then drove the car home. I have a '95 993 based on his advice reference the air cooled Porsche cars. At the time I spoke with him I was in the market for a 993 and though he had a few on the lot, he was a no pressure guy. Seemed more interested in giving a guy good information on a great car. Best of luck!

Thats what I like to hear. The car will not be for me, but a family member. I'm just going along to make sure its a decent example

I was going to leave a Mercedes with him to sell a while ago and he insisted on having the few things it needed repaired. I think he tries to get quality cars with no problems on his lot. His mechanics have to check out the car before it goes on the lot. I like Nort and the way he does business. He is very interested in teaching you about the car. And of course, he knows Porsches.

Are you looking at a 993?

Probably doesn't matter, just the regular advice applies - next 993 I buy (don't tell my wife) I'll take a harder look at wear items. If all the papers are there, and the car's at 70K, I'd be checking for an alternator replacement, rack replacement, brake work, other preventive maintenance. If it's not done you'll be on the hook for it in short order. My car is at 85K and boy, are those plug wires looking ugly...

Just figuring getting a 993 with some miles in order could cost you about 3 to 5K, assuming the engine is sound.

Good luck!

PS - if you buy a car from him you get a cool hat with his bright green 911 on it. That's the real reason to go to Nort!

Black993, How did your PMI come out? Zotz is a good choice. Did you buy the car? If so, congrats! Which car were you looking at?

I was only there looking with a family member. There was a slight issue with a transmission seal (if I understood correctly) and it is being fixed by the current owner I'm told. Should be ready sometime this week

It was the black 95 c2 with Cashmere interior.

FYI, Nort also had 2 black 96 cars there as well. One was a c2, the other a c4. A very nice guy and overall a great experience so far. Will update once the car is picked up and at its new home.

Well, there is another 993 in the family now!
Went to pick it up this morning from Nort. Excellect experience and a true pleasure to deal with.
Its a Black 95 with Cashmere interior, 73k miles. PPI done at Zotz and found a few minor things that were fixed prior to the sale.

No affiliation, just a satisfied relative of a customer.

Glad it was a good experience for you and your relative. Will it be staying in the Orlando area?
