Headers for track car

Headers for track car
Have a '95 993 that is used only on the track. Have muffler bypasses and gutted cat but still have the heat exchangers although not connected for heat to inside of car. Am thinking of going to headers and getting rid of the heat exchangers. Any recommendations on manufacturers of headers? Will the cost of the headers offer any gain in performance?

It's my understanding that aftermarket headers don't offer any horsepower benefit. NineMeister is working on a set of headers that offers a possible 10-30 hp, but that figure has not been verified with a stock, 3.6 engine. Also, at the current exchange rates, the pipes are going to cost $8,000. You'll have to decide how important that extra power really is.
If you want to get really faster, I'd suggest hiring a coach, so you can gain speed through the corners.

Mark, thanks for the comments. My thread was really an inquiry about "cleaning" up the exhaust system and getting rid of the "unconnected" heat exchangers and not specifically for gaining more power. I have read in the past that headers on 993s really don't improve much over the factory design with repsect to power gain. As far a coach is concerned, like any other sport, we all need the pros from time to time for their advice and help.

Will you be doing any ECU programming with the header change? If not, I think it's unlikely to see a significant performance change. My car has simple headers and dual Phase 9 mufflers that work quite well and after MoTeC programming, gave a significant increase in hp (measured on the engine dyno). I don't know where my headers came from but Rich at Jerry Woods does (408) 369-9607 if you want information.
I also have a "banana" style muffler used on older 911s for when I need to meet sound restrictions. The Phase 9s are about 97 db. The banana allows me to pass 90 db at Laguna Seca, but I pay a power penalty to use it.
