Default Is Baltimore 993 friendly?

Was thinking about heading to Bmore this Saturday for a possible overnighter and was wondering if I should just take the Accord and save the worry. Any thought from our resident Baltimorians? We were going to checkout a Brazilian steak house someone mentioned to me.

Baltiwhere?

Seriously, are you heading downtown? Some of Baltimore's streets can be a little rough, but I don't think it's that bad for a street 993. I wouldn't take my race car downtown.

The best steak I've ever had anywhere is at VIN in Towson. The butcher's cut hanger steak is melt-in-your-mouth tender and perfect. If you go there, be sure to ask the waiter/waitress that, if you want medium/medium rare/well-done/whatever, that the kitchne cooks it that way. My steaks have arrived a bit on the undercooked side for me, but it beats having a piece of charcoal when you ordered bloody. Oh, the place has great atmosphere and is usually filled with hot girls, which is another reason I love to go there.

<edit> I have also had a killer steak, another hanger cut, at the Interlaken Resort in Lakeville, CT. It's also seven minutes from Lime Rock Park, too. http://www.interlakeninn.com

Cactus,
Just drop your 993 off at my house and take the 4Runner. I'll make sure the 993 is safe.....

What's the issue? It's a Baltimore landmark that has consistently served authentic Spanish food.

My wife's family is from Balt. We took her grandmother there for her 90th birthday. We had a res for 10 and we got there a few minutes early on a Saturday night. They made us wait 90 minutes on the staircase that leads down to the place with a 90 year old and 2 early teens and a 4 year old. To make matters worse any party that walked by us on the stair case got seated as the matre de pocketed money from them. My brother inlaw slipped him 40 bucks after about 45 minutes which worked wonders they cleared place for us near that tiny bar and crammed us in there for the final 45 minutes of wait time. Not a chance they ever see a dime from me again.

On the other hand the Prime Rib down town is one of the best Ive been to.

I think you're fine with the 993. The roads are smoothest around Scores and The Block. Go figure.

Its like any other city... Hell I lived in center city Philly and had several 911's as my only car. Dont park it on the street so it wont get "touch parked" other then that its not that big a deal.

Listen, it depends on where in Baltimore. If in Park Heights, I'll say no - across from Park Heights, I would say yes. Inner habor yes, a few blocks NW or up by (hmm where the Carnival is kept) ..negative. Like every city it depends on where exactly you're going etc. I drive into DC every other day, but there are some parts you wont catch me in a pcar at night. Let common sense prevail. If in doubt take the Accord..

Inner Harbor is the destination but have not looked into accomodations yet. I'll just take the Accord so I can sleep and enjoy myself and bring the 9 to the Fall Meet!

Quite right, I NEVER drive my 993 downtown, always take the - you guessed it, Honda Accord. My 993 is a daily driver but I would not bring it to any part of downtown Baltimore. I lived in town for 5 years before moving to the 'burbs...

+100 on the negative comments on Tio Pepe -- I had exactly the same experience: arrived on time/early for a reservation (for two) for a special occasion; we were made to wait for approximately an hour while the maitre d' seated party after party ahead of us, then finally gave us a VERY crappy table, where we got dismal service and mediocre (at best) food. I will NEVER go there again and I always tell anybody who asks why not.

Have fun though with the Accord and some other fine establishment! Baltmore's nickname is Charm City and sometimes it even is (charming).
