Default New Paint Job Cost

Putting together a project car which will be a 1978 SC. Car is black and I want to change it to white. No body work to speak of, just a color change.
What would be a reasonable cost to assign to this? Not show car quality, probably comparable to factory or slightly less.
I posted in the 993 forum as you guys seem to have the best insight. I,m in
So Cal BTW

thanks, TW

Depending on the shop and prep level it can run you from $4K to over $10K.

I'd expect it to be around 1000€ since you're getting the car painted inside and out, but I'm in Portugal, and the prices where you live might differ.

Cool Here is what I'd do...

I'd call Mark Tyler, President/owner of QualTech in San Diego. He just loves to paint Porsche cars. 4660 Alvarado Canyou Road, SD, CA 92120
Phone" 619 281 3418 www.qualtechautocenter.com Mark has been painting lots of PCA guys cars in the last year. His shop does great work.

Going from Black to White is a benefit...all those little spots on the car that can't be reached without a total disassembly, will be black.

1000€ = $1425 USD. At Earl Sheib, Maaco, or Miracle maybe. The prices definitely differ over here. If you can get a quality job for that, I should ship my car over there and go on vacation the next time I want to paint my car.

Harvey had it right. You could probably save a bit by doing all the disassembly and reassembly yourself, but only if you find a shop willing to work with you.

Black to white? Is there a reason you cant just start with a white one? Thats a big change so you'd want to spend a lot otherwise there'll be patches of black showing up in the engine bay etc.
