Problems with dealership.

No we haven't but its deffinitely not a clutch problem. You really feel the gearbox resisting, and we took a look and it´s deffinitely the gear selector... now i'm just hoping its covered by warranty. If it is I'll probably be as mad as if it wasn't because my car's been standing in the garage since august...
And I really don't know how long the warranty is, going to look that up right now:P Might aswell ask on the forum:P

YOu have no factory warranty on a 993.......at best you have a 1998 model...and no car company offers a 9 yr factory warranty.........You bought a used car...something went wrong........oh well.........

ahah i have a 1995 model and I didn't buy a used car. The car was my dad's and he bought it new in 1995 and since then he drove it 30 000 km. Car spent 90% of it's life in a garage. But maybe there was some kind of recallnotice since this was a factory problem.

Phil, is the wiring harness still covered? The failure to lube the selector shaft was a defect on quite a few 95 993's. He has a shot at getting some sort of help I hope. I had it on mine as did quite a few others. It was fairly common and PAG issued a service bulletin on it. Not a recall mind you.....

hey, I didn't buy the car, I have no idea what the warranty's like, that's why i was asking. But do you think there's anyway I can get the job done for free?
oh and I have an OT question...I heard the car has a skidplate under it and if you take it off you save weight and get more air to the engine. Any truth to this?

If the thought of actually having to shell out some money to keep this car roadworthy is so offensive - I strongly suggest you sell it to someone who will care for it properly. Then go buy a Honda or Toyota with a new car warranty and be happy.

lol it's not offensive to me to to pay for it, but i'm 18 and it's not that easy maintaining a porsche, that's why i'm trying to get this done as cheaply as possible or free. But i wouldn't swap it for any other car.

So, how much enjoyment are you getting from the car now? Looks like dad did'nt make the wisest decision in giving his teenager a car he could'nt afford to keep running. Maybe you can get a set of wrenches and fix it yourself. Good Luck.

Haha I'm getting tonnes of enjoyment out of it, while it's working, but I guess I can deal with not having a car for a few months, it's worth waiting for a porsche:P I've wanted this car since the day my dad bought it haha. Last year I told my dad that what I wanted was to buy a classic for about 2 or 3 thousand € and restore it myself. Somehow he thinks it makes more sense me saving up to maintin this car:S
