996 to a 993
Hello all,
I have sold my 996 and am in the process of shopping for a 993 to replace her...
I think I have seen a thread somewhere with the problem areas of the 993 and things to look for when buying one but with my horrible search skills I can't seem to find them.
If anyone has these threads handy can you please post them.
Thanks in advance for your help and I look forward to joining the 993 family.
David

993 have a list of issues compare to the 996, just be prepared to fork out some poket change to keep it going.
- clutch slave
- Evaporator core
- SAI valve
- Valve guide
- Rough idle
Not to mention higher cost of maintenance.
The upside if that you don't have to deal with the dreaded RMS problem in the 996.
993 is definitely a prettier car, but technology is technology. The 996 is a step up technically from the 993, from stand point of driving, ease of ownership, and performance.
The 993 is an entirely different animal, I am sure you have heard it is the last old school 911. So there is a price tag to be paid to be part of a legend.

Honestly , They are good cars but for me I like my 993s better. the look, the feel, and the sound of the air cooled motor. To me 993 are classics. Technology wise the 996 are better. I owned 2 of the best 996 ever built but they will never replace a 993 in my heart. The are a work of art. But I am no purist
