Cooling fan problems

I started my 993 for the first time today for 5 weeks and a screeching sound and sparks started to fly out from close to the big nut that holds the cooling fan and all the pulleys on - any ideas the issues?

Do you have the updated pulley? From what I've read it eliminates the washer which might be slipping and sparking on yours.
