It was my thought that this would not be a good use for the car. I have over 100 track days on the car, and have never had any problems.

Since I posted this, I spoke to the tech at Paul Miller Porsche in NJ and they indicated that ti would not be a problem for the car, so long as I ran it hard every once in a while.

As I do not drive that many miles in one year, it seems too silly to keep three cars for myself, so I will be selling the Evolution.

Thaks for posting your thoughts.

This is what will happen inside your engine:- On very short journeys, you will get a lot of condensation inside the crank cases. These mix with the oil and turn into acids. (This is the reason why you should always do an oil and filter change if you plan to store the car for anything over 28 days) Acids and emulsifying oil are two things that are not good to have inside your engine. In an ideal world, engines should be run for 1/2 hour at normal o/t. This ensures that all of the contaminents in the oil get boiled off. In the case of a two mile run, the engine will never reach full o/t and the build up will be fast. If you must do this, then I suggest you take the car for a damn good thrashing every weekend - at least one hour, then 1/2 the interval between oil changes. - I would take others advice and buy a cheap 'station car'

Get in, let it warm up correctly (Start, immeadiately drive it @ -3000rpm until the oil temp needle is around 8:00 on the guage, rap it out good and then continue to enjoy) and then drive it like any Porsche 911 (upshifting in the 5000+ range).

These cars are damaged by sitting too long, improper start up (gunning the engine) and shifting @ too low RPM's (if you load them up they will make you pay ie; SAI)

This has always worked, with my old 79' 911SC going 200K before it needed a rebuild and my current 95' 993 @ 93k with the SAI still clear and functioning.
