Remember you can sleep in the Porsche 993 but you can't drive the House!

I have a large house and a shop with more floor space full 9 cars, trucks and toys. Unfortunately if I were to not be able to afford the house I'd sell the house. If I can't afford to service and keep the cars....... I'd still sell the house! If it gor real bad Id sell everything and sleep on my 993 TT.

But that is just my opinion. I love my 993 TT and wouldnt part with it.

Well, the owners said our contract wasn't high enough (it was in the stratosphere compared to the comps) so we finally just got frustrated with it and said forget it. So much for that home... but, we just found another and put a contract on it today. It's ALOT bigger, and has a much better garage for my 993 . It's also a bit less expensive so I sure do hope we get it.

You guys have a great way of putting the 993 ownership in perspective sometimes by your comments. I love the previous one about sleeping in the 993 rather than owning a home if it came right down to it. That typifies the love we have for our cars.

Default Market conditions

Steve,

This isn't anything that I know you aren't already aware of and I understand the area you want into is hot. But when this came across my E-mail moments ago I thought it was worth sharing.

NEWS ALERT from The Wall Street Journal Sept. 25, 2007

Demand for previously owned homes tumbled in August to the lowest level in five years as mortgage-market troubles hurt sales. Home resales fell to a 5.5 million annual rate, a 4.3% decline from July, the National Association of Realtors said. In a separate report, the S&P/Case-Shiller index showed the decline in U.S. home prices accelerated nationwide in July, posting the steepest drop in 16 years.

Mark, thanks for that info. That's kind of scary! We may have found another "perfect" home, put a contract on it yesterday but haven't heard back yet on it. And, we haven't even had our first open house on our own.

Oh well... it's all good. As long as I get to keep my 993, and after driving it around all day today enjoying the heck out of it, all is well with the world. It's like having a go kart with great air conditioning.

Congrats!!

Im actually thinking of moving up to Park City, UT. I will pay 2x or so the amount for a home similar to mine but I will probably downsize. The family jewels were put to an end about 4 months ago so I certainly dont need more space!!

I really like Park City, UT and considering I can work from anywhere, why not live there. Great schools, awesome resort town.

We have no mortgage and are looking to buy a larger home, so falling prices is actually a good thing for us. My question is -- has the market bottomed yet, or is it still in free-fall????

Condo auction in Miami:

Granted, it is an auction, it is in Miami, and it is condos, but it might give one some pause.

Although I wouldn't put much credence in what a Fed governor has to say, Lockhart of the Atlanta Fed sees the bottom happening maybe by the end of 2008:

Well, we got the house, and there's definitely room in our budget for the 993, the BMW AND the Acura. I'll miss that spot on the driveway that I was able to park our family sedan (you can't really see that spot in this pic, but the driveway was big enough to park an extra car AND be able to pull out the 993 and the Acura)...

Here's the new house. The BMW will have to stay out here parked on the street in front instead of the driveway.

It seems that they didn't really use their garage but parked on the driveway. Their garage seemed pretty clean inside, oh the better to house the 993.

We decided to take out a mortgage after all and not put all our savings into the house like we thought we would. Time to meet with a financial planner asap just to make sure this is the smartest money move for us, but there's definitely going to be a 993 residing in that garage.

Thanks everyone for your kind remarks and PM's over these last couple of weeks. See all you locals at the "Fall Meet and Drive Rennlist" get together here in the MD/DC area this year, wherever and whenever that may be.

Thanks alot, guys. You don't get as much yard in this area of North Potomac, MD, but it's a pretty area nonetheless. Most importantly, it's right across the neighborhood from where my stepdaughter lives with her daddy so we can see her much more easily, and more often, with just a few minutes drive instead of 30 minutes.

Andreas... Hey, be sure to let me know where you plan on meeting for that ole' Meet & Drive and I'll meet you guys there! You are planning this one, right?
