Perhaps a silly question

Hi,
My 993 has braided steel flexible brake hoses on the front calipers. I presume that I cannot use a brake hose clamp on these if I want to change the calipers?
Thanks!

Brake hose clamp?
You undo the calipers, spin off the brake line and spin it back onto the new caliper before reinstalling with new bolts. Wipe the few drops of fluid. Bleed that corner and you're done in 10 minutes, including washing your hands.

Clamping a braided stainless steel line will probably distort the sheathing.

Any time you crack open a brake line you should wedge something between the front seat and the brake pedal so that the pedal is depressed just slightly passed the halfway point. This will prevent brake fluid from completely draining out of the system.

Before cracking the line open, I've filled the fliud reservoir, then covered the fill hole with plastic stretch wrap (saran wrap) and screw the cap on with a moderate amount of force. The plastic wrap keeps the brake fluid from draining as rapidly due to the vacuum created.
