Default Anybody either 'made' or bought BLACK stone guards for 993..?

Seems like the only thing available is 'clear' stone guards for the 993. Since my car is black and I have stone marks where the guards would be placed, I thought black guards would look better. Any ideas for material I could use to fab them myself? My car came with clear guards that had yellowed and looked awful since the paint looked really weird where they were. I used a heat gun on lo heat to remove them, but you can really see the stone marks. My thought is that black, sort of matte finish guards might look better. Thoughts - experiences???

Marlon,
Sunset should be able to get the correct black guards.

I like the material used on the 80s Carrera turbos, etc. You could probably find out what material it is and have it cut to size.

Maybe Sunset has them, but Pelican and others only have 'clear' and they are real Porshce parts. I'll call phil today. My thought is that Porsche only made clear ones for the 993.

Yes - I like that material - I had them on my 3.2 and was hoping that they were available for the 993, but no luck so far...

I have Polar Silver ones on my '95. The PO included a spare set of stone guards as well - they are Polar Silver and are from Porsche... If you check the PET, you'll find the correct part numbers for each color.

A friend recently purchased the correct Gran Prix white ones for his 993.

I have Polar Silver ones on my car. They look great. I would rather have the body color than clear. IMHO

Just called Sunset and was informed they do not come in black, only white, 2 silvers, and clear.
Interesting because I'm 99% sure the ones on my car are black

FWIW, I think they can also be custom cut out of the 3M Clear Bra stuff. Probably not as thick, but an attractive "while you're in there" option if you've getting the front done already....

I had clear ones before and they turned yellow and generally looked crappy. I'd rather have black ones that have a matte sort of textured finish versus smooth & shiny. Wonder if old style 930 guards would be close since the 993 and 930 both have wide rear ends????!!?

Marlon,
You could always purchase a set of the old style, matte guards, and then use one of my new factory guards as a template.

Black or tinted clear would work for me too, it would also be nice for the nose of the car.
