OK. When a fellow Porsche driver passes you. YOU GESTURE! I don't care if they don't do it first. If the other guy ( or gal ) does not gesture they are just a possesory of a Porsche. If you are a true Porsche freak, you notice all Porsche's.
I'm sick of dud gesturing. I give the thumbs up, the other guy just drives on by. And you know that if you don't gesture... of course the OTHER GUY DOES and you look like a possesory! It just never fails.
So just gesture. No matter what. Even if it is a Cayenne. Maybe you will get lucky.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

In my experience, the only people who wave are those that drive aircooled cars. Sad but true.
When you can lease a new Porsche for $800/mo, you end up with a lot of people who buy status and have no clue or desire to have a clue about the heritage of the marquee and what it really means to drive a Porsche.

Agree x 10....aircooled people recognize another "fellow" smitten person and symathize :-).......boxster and 996 waves are few and far between (ones that wave I always assume are RLs).....I have had a few 997s wave back but since the cars are so similar I assume they think I am another 997 waveing at them.....but yes my wife and even my 10 year old daughter notice every p-car on the road or in driveways....are we sick or what......my daughter even says porscha!!!

maybe some people are paying more attention to the road then looking at every car that goes by! By the way I drive a water cooled and still wave if I happen to notice another Pcar and usually get a wave or light flash back.

Even my son who is eleven noticed that! I gesture and for the most part it's the newer owners that don't. My reply to my son's question was, it’s a lease which soon was followed by another question, "what’s a lease" dad? Speaking of which, is anyone here in Broward county Florida that would want to get together for a meet?

But then again, its the air-cooled in you. (You still have the 964.)

Another thing with the newer cars as most have working air conditioning (unlike many aircooled) thus the windows are rolled up making it hard to wave. Yea its probably 25 years of having a aircooled Pcar of some kind in the garage that still has me waving. What happened to the light flash everybody use to do

I must admit that sometimes I'll wait until its too late to see if its a Boxster or not, before initiating. I don't want to waste an unwanted wave on a Boxster or a late-model.

There was a very funny thread on Pelican a while ago. Some highlights:
1- 356's- get a wave and salute
2- Pre '74 911's - see 356’s
3- '74-77 911's get a wave of respect
4- '78-98 911's get an enthusiastic wave
5- 914's get a smile and a nod
6- 924, 928,944,968 get eye contact and a nod
7- Boxsters get a wave only if they wave first
8- '99-05 911's - see Boxster
9- Cayenne owners get a raised eyebrow
10- "special" Porsches (anything not covered previously)
Use your best judgement.
And a throwback to the '70s. "Be cool" LOL

1175 miles since I got mine and the only other Porsche I have passed was a Boxster and they were waving 2 miles away like the mother ship had landed! I sadly never see any 993's in my area ever!
