OT: Our Competition
Ferrari is by far the ultimate competitor of Porsche. I posted earlier about what makes/models were out there when our 993s were introduced to the mainstream. The F355 was the main challenger.
To date i believe the Ferrari F355 is still one bad *** car and i have an opportunity to add one to the posse. (ATAN stay away! u of all people could easily use one of these.). Oh, btw it’s on craigslist san fran.
But this clip states IT IS the best car in the world, anyone have an opinion?

I have never been in the position to own an f-car and would love to someday. I do like the F355 a lot, but if Alvin couldn't stand paying whatever it cost to maintain, I know that I couldn't even begin to imagine to pay it. From what I've read here and elsewhere, F360 is the way to go. Maintenance is less expensive and it's supposed to be more reliable.
Good luck if you do go for it. Did Robin ever get one? If he does and figures out all the DIY stuff, it may be just what you need.

Not sure it's the same market, then or now. Cost almost twice as much as a 993 new, and costs twice as much as a used one now.

If you like it and have the maintenance budget for one then I say go for it!
That car sounds incredible. Went for a ride in a convertable version of one and it was scary fast. Very cool ride.

Ahhh, the sound of a 355 -- I think, even today, the 355 is my favorite F-car. The 360 is nice, probably a better car from many perspectives. I have driven a 430, the one and only F-car I have driven.

Had a chance to crawl around a 348TS this week - a beautiful car, they are one of the better sculpted Ferraris IMHO.
Ebay asking $$$ of '89 - '92 348's are in the range of good '96 - '98 C4S/C2S prices; however, their fabled service costs appear to be well founded .... $5K in parts for pressure plate & disc ... $1.8K for the hydraulic release bearing: there are the easy parts to install, which my friend did as a DIY - most else requires an engine drop.

Check out the NSX Files. Do a search there for their adventures with two F355 daily drivers. They drove them like maniacs and paid a hefty price to keep them running. I think one of them actually celebrated when he had the car running for 30 consecutive days.
