Default CDR-220 & Poor FM Reception

Greetings to all! I recently replaced the CR-1 in my '95 993 with a CDR-220. Initially I only received two channels and after going back to the installer, they allegidly connected 12V to the antenna amplifier. I now pick up a few more but not like the CR-1 did. Any suggestions? Might the antenna amplifier be "tired"? I do know there was an antenna connection difference and it took a 90 degree adapting elbow to make the new connection to the CDR-220. Might that be causing a loss of signal? I have looked into the shark antennas but have found I would have to drill my roof for that one. Not on my bone stock 993... Hope someone has the solution. Thanks.

I recently fitted a CDR 220 to my 97 Targa. The car ariel lead is quite short and difficult to insert fully. After I completed the install the radio reception was almost non-existent. Reaching up under the dash from the floor I was able to feel around and locate the ariel connection with my fingers and shove it home firmly. Presto, perfect reception.

Default CDR-220

Thanks for the suggestion. Did you have to use the 90 degree antenna adapter?

https://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/371405-experience-w-kali-koncepts-ebay-audio.html

order a "VW-A17"
(BMW/Porsche/Mercedes/VW/Audi 90-up Converts standard Motorola female to OEM antenna male, Use when replacing factory non-amplified systems.)

It's a 90 degree'er, plus a five or six inch extension to the antenna lead. Makes it much easier to load the unit back in. Their email address is orders@kalikoncepts.com (not sure if there are any at their store on ebay, but you can check, no affiliation to me, just a satisfied customer)

Good luck!
