Going Back In Time.....
Since owning my 993 NA I've always wondered how it stacked up to the rest of the exotics "performance wise" when it was introduced, understanding in today’s world it would be considered under powered to even some sedans.
I did a quick search on Epinion and Google and found that the Ferrari F355, Lotus Esprit and the Viper (didn't think it was that old) would have been it's primary competition. Doubt it has much in common with the 1995 McLaren F1.
Opinions welcomed? Links to performance sheets / articles also?

I have a car and driver book that has all of the 1990-1997 road tests of the 911's. In one they do performance tests of the Corvette, porrsche turbo, ferrari and Acura NSX. The test combines many elements from dring at speeds in a circle, 0-100-0, etc. The Turbo spanked the competion. It came in 1st or seconfd in each test - very interesting, I will find it and post some info.

Once again, Owning the 993 to me is much more than performance figures. Go find those cars now after 12 years. Do they have anywhere close to 80K or more miles on them? And if so how big is the stack of repair bills or better yet how much has it cost to operate those others @ 80K miles?
How well have they held up in overall condition? My money is on the Porsche.

Then tell me how happy you are to pay to have a tune up done on your 993-- Jeeze, we don't even have to set the valves anymore.

The 911 design is very robust compared to those others (just repeating hearsay, I have no direct experience with any of them other than my 993). Only recently has Ferrari put a rest to reliability questions in their current crop of vehicles, I've heard.
