Default Is there a proper way to change a relay?

Do I need to observe any proper proceedure when replacing what I hope is a faulty relay? In the past I have just switched out my DME relay with no ill effects. The relay in question is the 811 951 253 which has to do with the A/C.

A search didn't turn up anything on this.

Thanks!

Turn the car off. Pull relay out, push relay in?

I know the AC resistors tend to burn out and stop the fan at low speed. Haven't heard of relays going out. There is excellent info on http://p-car.com/diy/fan/
