Default Does anyone know a VIN cutoff for Gilett & Bischoff heat exchangers?

Way back when, I looked under my '96 993 and saw that the mufflers are stamped Bischoff, so I assumed that the heat exchangers have the old-style oval flange. But now I've read that some 993's had mix-and-match heat exchangers and mufflers, so you have to look at the heater boxes themselves. I'm out of the country right now and can't do that, but would like to order a couple of things before I return home.

My car is #3621. Does anyone know when exactly the factory made the switch? Thanks in advance.

No and the factory seemed to have also created "mutt" systems based on what parts were available. Having built many cat bypass pipes etc over the last year and a half, we've seen cars with mix and match parts as part of the complete factory cat/muffler system. There are no guarantees. As well some OBD1 cars came with 2 O2's (instead of 1). Bizarre stuff.

Thanks Chris. I'll have to eyeball my heater boxes.
