Default Opinions about springs???

Lots of stuff on the list about suspension. This question is quirky enough not to have been addressed, at least not directly in previous posts.

Car is a '96C4S. New Bilsteins all around. The car came with ROW M030 on the front (Orange Green green) ROW M033 (pink) on the rear.

I understand that the front M030's are progressive, stiffer and provide some lowering. The rear M033's are a standard ROW issue for the C4S and are linear and softer than the rear ROW M030, or so I believe. I Don't know if the rear ROW M030 is linear or progessive.

The questions are, what kind of performance hit am I going to take with this configuration? Why would someone do this in the first place? Car is a DD.

Many thanks,

RB

Clearly the balance is not going to be right with softer springs in the rear. The rear is heavier so requires a stiffer spring than the front in order to balance the car. Your car will understeer a lot with the configuration you have. It's probably a safer configuration than going M030 in the rear and M033 in the front. No good reason for the PO to do this.

The ROW M030 is a progressive-rate spring, fyi.

Hummm - I thought that the rear ROW springs were linear: the fronts are clearly progressive.
I have no idea of the spring rate difference between your MO33's vs MO30's .... but rather than tear them out, you might consider going to a stiffer rear bar like the 21mm ROW turbo. This may give a better idea of what handling change to expect ..... and can be done with far faster and with less grief than a spring change.
