Permanent SAI Solution (Hopefully)

Congrats and thank you. I had thought about this some time ago, but you actually did it!
A simple elegant solution. Those are the best!
Only negative is there goes my excuse for the Ninemeister heads!

This looks much "nicer" than my attempt that failed!!! What ID tubing did you use? Did your wrench take any O2 sensor readings using a bosche hammer or something similar......the inlets to the exhaust look very nicely fabricated...did your wrench doi these???

Can we get any shot's of the SAI valve itself. Also, it looks like where the new tubing attaches to a factory point on the exhaust right, so no welding or drilling.
Also, it looks like all of this came from the hardware store. Can it withstand the heat back there, woule there be any tubing upgrades like the race shops use.

Ah yes, got you, I was looking at this the wrong way.....these are the diagnostic ports that can be seen when the exhaust is viewed from behind and under the rear bumper.....hmmmm when I discussed this once before people thought this was too far down the exhaust system and hence might not work....so I will be interested to see if it does.....incidentally these ports and hence the attached tubing are viewable (is that a word??) with the tray on.

Now that is putting some brain horsepower to work!
I got around this problem by registering my car in Flagstaff (Coconino County) where we do not have auto emission inspections.
With only 16,000 on the car, I have not yet experienced the dreaded SAI problem, but I am interested in the outcome of this modification.
By the way, who is your mechanic in AZ?

In Arizona they do not physically inspect the system. They just plug in and see if it's working and has been through a drive cycle. They can be modifications to the system but the ODB must be intact and working.

Just an update. I've put about 1,200 miles on the car since this was done. And no CEL!!!!
We used 1/4" OD aluminum tubing. Fitting were fabricated to to the SAI valve and on the tubing in the injector ports. I'll get pictures of the valve this week.
My wrench is Don Jackson's in Phoenix.
I can't speak to liability for myself or my wrench for making an off road modification. But in Arizona as I stated, in Maricopa County (Phoenix) they now only check the ODB, they do not inspect the exhaust system. And if they did, as clean as this is would they know what there looking at?
As to the cost. This is almost unfair.....I was only charged two hours labor and the new SAI Valve. So total to me was about $250. This was due to the fact that I was the test case.
This is a clean and simple fix to a "non-serious-problem"...
I trust this helps.

Just fyi for those folks nowhere near Phoenix...there is another easy-to-install option for $299. Check here:
http://www.turbowerx.com/Products/SA...AI_Bypass.html
Here's a blurb from the website:
TurboWerx has developed a very low-cost solution. Our "SAI Bypass" system can be installed by anyone in about 20 minutes. No more SAI CELs - EVER. Once the Bypass is installed, it will permanently eliminate this ongoing menace. And will have absolutely no negative effects on the engine. This solution has had 10's of thousands of miles of testing on many 993s over the last 2 years with 100% continued success. The SAI Bypass requires no permanent modification(s) be made to the engine; it can be removed just as quickly with no sign it was ever installed. Even the closest of engine bay and exhaust system inspections will not reveal the presence of the SAI Bypass.

woah! That turbowerx looks neat. Must be some way to bypass the sensor if it can be fitted in 20mins?
both the solution in the thread and the turbowerx solution are things i can't wait to better understand
