Elecrical popping noise in stereo
Hi everybody!
I have had this weird electrical popping noise develop in my stereo for the last few months. It has gotten worse and worse. Now something needs to be done. I have traced the noise to the fan running on low speed. It comes through the speakers (even with the volume all the way down) and sounds like a helicopter. If I flash the high-beams, it will discharge the electrical buildup for a moment, but it then returns. I have been looking for a bad ground on the stereo, but have not been able to find anything wrong. Could it be the stereo itself? It happens with either cd or radio and I am frustrated.
All books on cd put me in a MASH unit environment with perpetual choppers. Argh. I have a long trip in two weeks and I'd like to be able to use my stereo.
Is it a ground somewhere? Is it the stereo? Has anyone else had this trouble? Thanks for any help.

Could be a poor ground connection on the stereo.
