Control arm bushing
Took my car to get aligned yesterday and found out my left control arm bushing is cracking. The shop said I could wait 3 months to monitor it then get it replaced. Also, I would have to buy the whole arm and not just the bushing because he said Porsche does not sell the bushing separately.
I called to Sunset Porsche to price it out and it's about $350 per side. Are there other options?

Ernesto,
I believe there may be polyurethane alternatives which allow you to retain the otherwise functional control arm. Hopefully someone can chime in with a source.

my front left is the one that has the problem. i checked vertex and they charge $475...ouch! i will do more research because i know the stealer is probably about the same price. Any thoughts if i should go to LA dismantlers?
Just say no to used control arms. The Sunset price looks really good (as usual).
The only downside of the polyurethane bushings is that they are said to squeak, but if you avoid all bumps, this won't be a problem
I have a copy of Philip Raby's article from June 2004 911 and P World. Too big to upload here, but I can email it to whomever wants it.

I too, recommend factory new ones (stock or RS).
The only way I would ever use a urethane bushing in such circumstances would be if I drilled the arms for zerk fittings and machined a channel in the ID of the bushing so these can be relubricated at regular intervals. "Caveat Emptor" on such things.
