I wanted to recharge my A/C and wanted to make sure I new which was the low pressure port since both ports have black covers on them. Is it the lower of the two ports? Also, will the pressure measuring instrument that comes standard with a can of r134a only fit on the low pressure nozzle preventing the user from accidentally hooking up the r134a to the high pressure port and having the can blow up in said person's face. Don't worry, I have disconnected the measuring instrument from the r134a to initially take measurements and have thoroughly read past postings about pressure...15 psi at 2000 rpms (less than most cars). Any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance and hopefully I won't disfigure myself
The money you think that you are saving by putting in $20 can of freon is a waste!
Take it in to a good Porsche Shop. Find the leak and fix it, than vacuum the system and put the freon in it. Good luck, Chris

Ooooh, man, do I agree with this! If you don't know a/c, you could, at worst, cause yourself a world of hurt; and at best, cause your a/c system some damage with over pressurizing. Take it to a trusted indy wrench. A/C is second nature to them, not to mention they have the right equip to test, evac, and pressurize the system. There is also a "sniffer" that can detect leaks. I'd err on the side of experts on this ...and no offense but the fact that you had to ask this question excludes you from that descriptor
The two "ports" are different sizes. But getting the weight of refrigerant correct is important to correct/optimum functioning of the AC and only a shop with the right equipment can do that.
