Default "Popping" sound while turning

I'm a rookie here, so please bear with me and thanks in advance. My driveway requires me to make a very sharp left turn, which requires me to turn the steering wheel as far left as it will go. I've noticed that when I've finished making the turn and the steering wheel is going back to center, sometimes I hear a single, and rather loud, "pop" coming from the car. It sounds like a knuckle popping kind of sound. Just a single POP. It seems to only happen when I'm pulling into my driveway; I've never heard it any other time. Also, I'm traveling very slowly when the pop occurs (under 5mph). My car is a bone-stock 1996 Carrera 4S. I don't see any leaks and the car appears to be running fine ontherwise. Don't know if this is related, but I recently replaced a leaky steering rack, and the sound is still there. Is this popping sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas? Thanks!

I had a similar popping noise in my 964 when making sharp low speed turns. Turned out to be the power steering belt, it was worn down to threads.
