PPI Needed in Michigan Area
Hello all,
I am looking to get back into a 993. I located one in Michigan and looking to have an independant shop perform an extensive PPI (compression/leakdown)as the car has over 100k miles. I did a search on this and the latest post was in 06. I would like to know if anyone has recent experience with the main shops in Mi. I know of Lavery and Auto Europe. I was planning to call Auto Europe this Monday to schedule something, but wanted to know if anyone knows a better place that is top notch for a PPI. Prior onwership of a 95 C4 has made me very skeptical of the so called Porsche specialists. When I was selling my C4 a prospective buyers mechanic claimed it needed a new clutch within the next couple thousand miles because the pedal was catching too high. The deal did not happen due to the prospective buyer wanting me to shave $4000 off the asking price due to the clutch allegedly needing replacing. I turned down the offer and drove the car for an additional 5000 miles, took it to my mechanic who concurred with the other shop. I almost went for it and decided to hold off, found another buyer who took it to a reputable shop that performed a very extensive PPI. They didnt find anything suspect with the clutch, sold car and kept in touch with owner who drove 20k miles on it and clutch still going strong. Sorry for long story, but I just want to take it to someone who understands 993's and what to look for during a PPI. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks
