Default what would be a "ballpark" figure to repaint a 993 a different color?

...by a reputable shop, complete respray from whatever color to black? i've never had a car repainted in my life and i can only assume it's going to cost a little more for a 993 than a regular car.

thanks.

Depending on how good a job they do and how much they take the car apart to do it between $10-15K. That is based on a figure I was quoted to repaint a 911 the same color two years ago when I was looking at a car that was mechanically sound but the paintwork was less than perfect. A good local shop quoted me $15K but that was not a complete strip down and paint, some of the items were top be removed, lights, bumpers and the like but not glass.

Why dont you just go buy a Black car if thats what you want, pay the money you would spend on a good respray to upgrade

Please dont go on my word alone, that was just a quote from a highly reputed Porsche Paint specialist......but my thoughts are that if you want to do a good job you would have to get to a nearly bare shell because there is always the possibility that the original color will show somewhere......what do others think

I recently had a quote to paint a small section of my boat and I would say $10 k is in the ball park for a 100% repaint down to the primer with 3 or more paint coats and as many clear coats. You also realize that the color change will depreciate the value of the Porsche unless you don't care about resale. A new paint job won't add much to the value of the car in today's 993 market. Just too many available. pick and chose your mods wisely.

Roche,
If you want a black car, just look for that color. There should be plenty. When I was looking, it seemed that ~80% of the cars I found were black. interiors varied from red to tan to black.

No offense, but no way I'd trust a $3,000 paint job.

When I had my euro turbo bumper sprayed, I asked the body shop what a full respray would run & they said 10-12K.

I've had a few cars restored/repainted at various levels of quality from just OK to show quality. To do a proper job, especially on a color change, a lot of parts have to come off the car including glass. Anyone reputable is probably going to charge $10K+ for this. I was recently quoted $7-8K on a same color respray by a local Porsche specialist who has done a lot of work for me and my customers (one of my businesses is auto related). Unless you have a friend in the business, I doubt you could get a decent full paint job for less than this.

As in anything, you get what you pay for. My best paint/body guy won't even do full paint jobs anymore as he can charge so much more for accident repairs on high end cars. If he billed out a full paint job at his rates and did it to his specifications (which means perfect, as good or better than OEM) he'd have to charge $20-30K for his time.

So my advice is don't even consider this route. For what it would cost, plus depreciation on any car with a color change, plus the considerable risk that the new paint job doesn't meet your expectations - you should just look for a really mint black car to purchase.

Why?

What color do you hate so much that you would unnecessarily sink $10K plus into it.

color change to do it the proper way is around 25k my yellow c4s with the same color but delete a few things here and there cost me 20k for paint and labor only. and that is doing it the right.

Default here's what i was thinking--------------

if i could find a higher mileage car in great mechanical condition that needed some TLC in the paint and interior dept, i could repaint it matte (flat) black, sport seats, rear seat delete, black wheels, etc.....

basically, make it an evil, bad *** car darth vader would be happy to drive.

just a thought.
