Default Good cabriolet mechanic in Michigan

Hi everyone,

Looking for a good mechanic in Detroit area to align my cab top. It's making a screen door spring sound on the driver side and the top really bangs against the top of the windshield before latching. The cab recall was already done before I purchased the car.

Thanks!

Don't let your top slam down.It could chip your paint or even crack your windshield. My top does this because the gears in the side transmissions are worn.I put my hand up and help guide the top down for a gentle landing.

I've had a 964 and now a 993 cab. I learned my lesson with the 964. On my 993 two weeks ago I went out to put my top up, and it stopped about a quarter of the way up. Talked to the dealer and they wanted $1,100 to fix the problem. I decided to convert to a manual top, took all of 5 minutes, now my 993 had the same fix I did to my 964.
The automatic Porsche cab top are either broke or in the process of breaking. It eventually happens to all of us.
Convert to a manual top....it saves worry, time, and money.
That's my opinion.

You don't have to go to a mechanic.A good auto upholstry shop should know all about these tops.

I too used to cushion the drop with my hand.

However, as far as realigning, you can do it yourself using these instructions:
