Marlon,
I recently helped a friend remove his distributor so that he could send it off for a rebuild. The housing failed to budge with normal persuasion. So we quickly fashioned a special tool. It worked like a charm!

Looks like a nicely improvised slide hammer, aka distributor puller.

Update, I installed the new fuel filter (20 minutes !! Anyway, it didnt make a difference. Car runs good but under a hard load it wont go over about 55-5800 rpm and has slight stumbles. No time to do the plugs this weekend. Hopefully plugs and caps/rotors will do it! Too bad the dealer only sent 1 dist cap!!! Gotta wait until next weekend now.

I know it sounds simplistic, but did you check the air filter as was suggested earlier? I had a similar issue just after I bought my car and it turns out that under hard load the filter would get jammed in the air box.
It is worth a look.
Good luck and keep us posted.

There is a hose that directs clutch dust into the air filter, suggest you errr, re-direct it, and make sure the air cleaner is clean. You might try running a few bottles of Techron through too.

Does the amount of time the engine has been running make any difference? Did you check for any fault codes? Have you checked the throttle cable adjustment?

The purpose of the hose is to cool the clutch disc.

I was told that it was an environmental thing to direct clutch dust into the air filter, where it can be collected and thrown out with the air filter.

The air filter is brand new, the throttle cable works perfect and the floor mats arent in the way. What do you mean the air filter would get jammed? Mine is a new paper filter that seems to fit ok.

The check sum errors threw me in a loop for about a month. Three chips later, issue resolved. As I mentioned, my rev. limiter would redline at about 5800 rpms exactly 9 minutes after starting.

Maybe its me but seems that a rev. limiter issue would computer related? But hey, Im no guru. Personally, I would bring to shop and have a diagnostic run on it. I have no patience when it comes to cars and those who do..........

Ok, I had some time this AM and was able to change 9 of the 12 plugs (Guess which ones) anyway, I just dont have time to do the other hard 3 for another week or so. They looked pretty good actually. I also took the paper airfilter out just to make sure that it wasnt sucking in and took the car for a drive. It is the same as before. I will do cap and rotor tomorrow hopefully but after that Im out of ideas. I may have to just take it in to be diagnosed!!! I just hate doing that. Any other ideas out there? Thanks, Mark

Any chance that you still have a fuel delivery issue? Maybe one or more injectors are not up to the task when the engine is under load?
