Default Could someone verify this?

I took the Tech Quiz at the Porsche Parade in San Diego and I am think their answer was wrong.

Question: On July 15th of what year did Porsche announce its production of its 1 millionth car, a 993
carrera Police version, that was presented to the German state of Baden Wurttemburg?

A. 1993
B. 1996
C. 1999
D. 2002

I read somewhere, I forgot where, that it was 1996 but the techies said it was 1999?

The source cited was Excellence was Expected Vol 3 page 1291.

I do not have a copy of Excellence was Expected.

Correct me if I am mistaken but I thought that Porsche stopped making the 993 in early 1998. Why would they delay celebrating the millionth car by 2 years or not use the 996, the new flagship model?

Thanks in advance.

You are correct! I am looking at page 1291 of Vol 3 and it is a picture of Porsche PR chief Anton Hunger and Ferry Porsche with the one millionth Porsche. The date is shown as July 15, 1996 in the caption and in the photo.

and the 993 is green and white, not from excellence though, from CAR magazine (UK)
Ferry Porsche offereed the car to the german Polizei, and deceased on march 1998, so couldn't be 1999

THANKS!

An Email will go out to the guy who was in charge of the Tech Quiz; not that it will do any good. I now understand why my friends who concourse get so depressed when some judge tears their car and effort apart based on misinformation.

Default I would send an e-mail to....

the guy that is in charge. If it is who I think it is, he is very responsible, and extremely Knowledgable about P Cars.

Interesting that Ferry and the 911 both died in 1998...
