LOL. I got busy at work. I also figured you'd post, too, before I had a chance!

Lest anyone have trouble untwisting their panties, these posts are meant to be in good fun.

You're a successful real estate mogul.

Wouldn't you like to buy the engine tray from a 993 RSR?

Mike how much for the 993 Cup tray? Not interested in the 993 RSR tray at all since I am not a pro.

I would love to have a 993 GT2 "tray" like this one. It goes all the way to the front too and you can even put a mug on it!

I had heard that the engine tray on the 993 was there for noise emissions. I had a chance to talk to an NVH engineer from Porsche at the SAE NVH show and asked him about it since I had been using my 993tt as a test subject for pass-by noise testing with a microphone array. The major noise source on the car appeared to be around the rear wheels. Differences from stock on the car were slightly larger tires than stock (295/30-18) and no engine tray. He told me that there was no NVH treatment on the engine tray for the 993 and believes that the primary function was to lower the drag coefficient of the car (CD). The factory specifications on the 964 were quoted as .32. The 993 tt was quoted as .34. The current 997 is quoted as .27.

[QUOTE=jclanin]Hi all,

I took off my engine tray this weekend at the recommendation of several RL's... I have to say I'm not sold on keeping it off. Looks like it protects quite a bit from general road rash.

What's the reasoning behind taking off the tray? (besides "everyone else does it" of course) I know it cuts down on engine heat - but I've never had an overheating problem... even in Hot-lanta traffic.

Just curious...

thanks,

Or drilling a couple of big holes and adding 12V fans?
