Default SoCal Body Shop Rec - my 993 is wounded

At driver's school today, I kinda went off track and smacked into the wall head on (offset driver's side). Air bags went off but I'm fine (save some air bag burns) It looks really ugly but it seems everything from the gas tank back is ok. Hood, fender bumpers, oil cooler, battery (spilled acid everywhere), and whatever part of the frame in the front corner - not so ok.

I'd like to know any recommened shops with air cooled 911 experience. Or, if you know of a general body shop that you think would do a great job on a 993, that's good also. LA, San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley, Santa Clarita Valley please.

Now excuse me while I go weep.

Default Bloody Shame....

So sorry to hear of you dilemma...it could have happened to any of us. Just think of today as the worst day of your life...tomorrow by definition has to get better.

The primo spot in Burbank is XXXX Torres body shop. You have to dig for the full name and address. You could call Galen Bieker at WERKS II in Burbank and ask for the full name of the shop. Tell Galen, Gus or Jackie that Martin referred you to them.

Deshler Collision Repair in Orange, CA (I know, its out of your way), is a fantastic shop. He is the place people in the OC go when tghey want it done right the first time.

Now this will really be out of your way but the shop is owned by a Porsche Nut that really loves to repair and paint Porsche cars: QualTech, owned by Mark Tyler. His shop is where all the San Diego Porsche geeks are going. I was just there a few weeks ago, outstanding shop, very professional and full of Porsche cars: 619 281 6024. Tell him Martin from POC referred you.

Send me a PM...I'd like to know about the venue and the school.

Marcos in Pasadena is a great shop...The shop Manager there - Dave, is a great guy and used to restore concours award-winning automobiles. They do everything, but Davie will definately take care of a fellow Porsche guy. Tell him I referred you and express your concerns for what you specifically want them to do when working on your car. They're top notch!

Good Luck,

Damien

My understanding is that if you want the best go to Brace's in Culver City. No personal experience (yet...)

No personal experience either, but I've heard Brace's is THE place to go. So sorry for your incident.

Brace's work is outstanding. I've used them numerous times. You might have to leave a message or two as they are very busy. Don't forget to do a search on them as well.

OOH MAN!, I feel your Bro! It will get fixed, and you will be back on the road! I guess if there is any solice to be found, 1) you are safe and not seriously hurt (save a bruised ego) 2) your are safe 3) the car was doing what it was meant to!

How did your Amps fare?

get well soon!

Class Auto body in Signal HIll (Long Beach) do a perfect job. They are more expensive than most, but when you see how thorough they are, you will understand you get what you pay for. They are Circle Porsche's recommended body shop

Pick a shop with a Celette frame bench and uses Glasurit paint.

Great info, people. Yes the amps didn't touch each other and appear to be ok.
I understand Glasurit is hard to come by anymore but I'll check.
Another shop I've found is Carerra6 in Pasadena - anyone hear anything about it?

Yes. Scott's work is amazing. His cars have been featured in Excellence multiple times. I've been to his shop and seen the quality of the paint jobs. However, as with anything, the top shops tend to be pricey...$1800, for my picnic basket delete (which is why I still have the despised thing still attached). For that $$ I could have the HD/M030's.

I'm sure there are others who could vouch for C6 too.

Jason, sorry to hear about your 993. What track were you at? If it is not too painful, do you have any pics to share?
