Default poor braking

A friend of mine just put Porterfield pads and new rotors on his C4s and now he tells me his braking is inadequate.. Does it take time for these pads to break in..

My experience is yes, but it is not that long. I would say after about 100 miles you should be back to normal braking. Do you know if he seated the pads to the new rotors? Depending on the pad, some recommend a few hard stops from 50-60 MPH. Others recommend that you keep a light drag on the brake pedal for a 1/4 mile or so while driving about 30 MPH. For this method you need to make sure you do not over heat the brakes by providing too much drag or doing it for too long. This help seat the pads to the new rotors.

He did seat the pads.. He also did a brake flush but did not bleed the accumulator.. I wonder if this could be his problem.

Did he bed the pads? If not, they won't work properly for a while, if ever.

HERE are instrctions for Pagid, which will probably work.

Just for the sake of argument, if the pads weren't bedded in properly, what is the remedy? Would the pads need to be replaced, or the rotors as well?

If they are not working, there is probably no problem - just bed them. If a vibration has developed, or develops, upon light braking, and decreases the harder you press on the brakes, he may have uneven pad transfer and need to clean the rotors before bedding.
