Yeah, it seems really lame, but no way that was due to a "mechanical" ...that's operator error. A reminder that we should dot all I's and cross Ts ...twice

the lug nuts sheared off. it was a parts failure, not a owner mistake.

Kinda hard to tell given the video quality, but you can clearly see that the right front and rear hubs DO have their studs, but the left rear "looks" like the studs have sheared. And the likelihood of ALL 20 nuts shearing off within the first 5 seconds out of the gate is??...

But with loose lugnuts (say, fingertight and then he got distracted before he had a chance to grab the torque wrench), this puts all sorts of funky lateral loads on the studs which are designed for simple axial loading.

There is no doubt in this layman's mind that this was human error. Not to mafe fun of this gentleman's misfortune (though it is a crackup to watch ), at least it didn't happen in a turn with a wall, armco, or other unsavory obstacles. Live and learn, eh.
