+1. Mine sounds quite subdued when I'm in the car but I love hearing my car when my SO drives away in it. Maybe this is the disconnect...I've heard the 1.5" and 2" LPMMs while standing outside the car but not while inside.

Sorry Louis, I'm confused - Which car? the 993?, 993? or the OTHER 993?

Sorry I wasn't clear. That would be the 993.

I have the motor sound package with the Fabspeed open air and are leaning towards the 2" LPMM upgrade - I want more "cow bell"!

Rob - are you you gonna drop by Mike's BBQ on Saturday?

2" here (or should I say hear). Anyway, agreed with everyone else. If you keep your foot out of it they are fairly quiet, just a touch above stock. I had a vette and it was too loud, the wife wouldn't ride in it. So now with the wife on board in the 993 I just take it easy and she has no clue I changed anything.

But......the other day I was on the freeway and some Harley riders were kinda messing up the normal traffic flow. (Nothing against Harley's or Harley riders on this forum-just these guys).

So when I passed them, I dropped it down a couple gears, stomped it right beside them and was probably tach'in at 6500. My LPMM's roared enough that they must have heard my pipes over theirs because one of them flipped me off. It was awesome.

It looks like 2" is the unanimous choice of LPMM Professionals.

Louis, yes, i'll be modding the motorsounds, i feel better about hacking them up than the Fabspeeds.

Mark Harris, that is to funny......LOL

I did a 2" LPMM, but it was the "down and dirty" method of simply opening up about 1 1/2" holes in the existing pipes (stock muffler) with a cutting torch and installing a 2" pipe. I think it's not quite loud enough while driving, but my GF says it's plenty loud when she hears it coming. She drove it while I listened and she's right (again). 50 bucks- can't beat it!

Oh, and at least a 200 HP improvement, too!

I have the 2" LPMM with mandrell-bent "J" bends to promote as much bypass as possible. I also drilled a few holes in the air box cover. It sounds great at WOT, especially over 4K RPM and is not even noticeable under normal load conditions. I wish the idle was louder, but the rest is just about perfect for a daily driver.
Very happy with this cheapest of mods.

The sound these cars make with motorsound / drilled airbox at WOT gives me goose bumps every time i hear it - specially when i'm getting a grin from a traffic cop doing radar in the opposite direction like this AM.. he heard me coming. he he he.

Curious, have any of you with LPMMs done any chip/dyno tuning?
And second question, do any of you have cat bypasses with LPMMs?

I'll be very interested in your comments on the Motorsound/LPMM. I've got Motorsound in one of my cars and I think it has the nicest tone compared to RSRs and LPMMs which is what I have in the other two cars. It could be louder though and I think that the LPMMs will do the trick.

I opened my mufflers, removed all of the stuffing and cut a 2" hole in the perf pipe pointing towards the bell, and then did the LPMM mod. It is noticably louder than the regular LPMM.But still not even close to my Supercups.
