Question tire questions

Hi: I need the collective list wisdom - I've done a search already.

98 C2s, turbo twists, w/ pss-9. Need replacement tires. Not super fond of the Conti 2's and they are wearing very quickly (but more the front than the rear - do I have an alignment issue?). I do a few DE's and autoX's per year. I wish I could say that I am a good driver, but I do a lot of plowing around corners. I'm working on it...

I'm a bit nervous to change the stock tire sizes but if anything, I need more speed as the car feels "less powerful" than other 993's according to a prev. instructor ("hand made engines" and all).

So, is there a consensus on which tire to buy? Tire rack only lists Bridgestones, Pzero Rosso, and Michelin Pilot Rib as std. Any experience with Yoko Advan Sport and BFG Gforce ta/kd?

I live in a cold climate so Yoko Advan Neova appears to be excluded. Too bad.

How about MPSC or Toyo RA-1's? Is it really a bad idea to use these around town (I drive the car only on w/e's) for the summer so that I can have more fun at the few DE's per year?

Any advice appreciated - thx.

Where in canada are you??? The R tires you can drive them on the street but beware the rain especially on the MPSC's.
I have used the Pilot Ribs and was very happy with them as street tires.

I chose Michelin Pilot Sport 2s, the ones approved for the GT3. I like them better than the ribs. According to my tire guys (Wheel Enhancement in LA) these last longer and tramline less than Bridgestones.

There may be a tire that is cheaper, but for a dual-use tire (street and sport) I'd be surprised if there is something better.

(But my mind is open.)

I don't have a lot of experience in this department, however over the weekend I changed over the 18" turbo twists with Sportcontact 2's (265*35) for 18" R+H with Pirelli Asymmetrico's (285*30). My impressions are the Pirelli's are a LOT harsher, although I was running the Conti's at 7psi higher pressure.

DJF1: I'm in Alberta. Spring came late this year, so the car was in storage for what seemed like an eternity. Our next house will have space for the car in the garage. Or maybe I should just move to the coast for my car. Although my wife might have something to say about that.
