Default Testing Spare Tire

It occurred to me (when recently replacing my battery), that the spare tire in my car is over 10 years old. Does anyone here "test" their spare to make sure it's OK if they ever need it?

After 10 years, should it be replaced?

Chuck,
Maybe someone with actual knowledge on this will speak up, but I'm fine with the condition of my spare as is. It's never been used, and sits in a very clean and dry trunk well. Unless exposed to spilled battery acid, or left outside for years in the sun, I'm not sure how the un-inflated spare would suffer in 10 short years.

I "tested" my 11 year old "spare" when I had a flat on the 15 Freeway. It worked fine, pump inflated everything and I drove to appointment and then home again (over 75 miles) on the "spare". Agree with Andreas, shouldn't have any problems.

I am just glad to have the thing, as the newer P cars do not have a spare,, all you get is a can of tire goo.. My Cayenne does not even have a spare.. Just does not seem right for an SUV ( off road vehicle?) to not have a spare.

Yep, I routinely take out mine and inflate it once a year.
With the 'supplied' pump going -- it takes a good 15 mins to get the tire up to operating pressure.
When you let all that air out -- it deflates and goes right back to the original shape -- like magic!
