Default Independent shop in North County San Diego?

Hey guys -

I'm moving from North Shore, MA all the way across country to North County San Diego. Can any of you recommend a solid independent shop. I don't have any urgent work needed, but want to start to establish some contacts. Worst case, and just maybe, there is even a reputable dealer out there as well.

I'd appreciate the feedback.

Thanks, Aaron

You can try European Motor Sports (760-599-9307) in Vista, CA. Joe is the owner and a heck of a nice guy who knows all Porsche's and has been around 20+ years.

You can also use the shop who works on my 993, Jae Lee owner of Mirage International (858-581-1101) currently in San Diego but is moving soon to a bigger shop in Mira Mesa (half way point in SD county) who in my opinion is probably the best 993 expert in San Diego county.

The third suggestion is All German Auto in Escondido (760-738-4626) I have no experience with these guys but have heard good things about them.

Good Luck and welcome to San Diego county!......ZP44 aka Joel Bowman

Thanks Joel - any reason you use your current guy, rather than the guy in Vista? My office is in Vista, so I'm most likely going with Joe, unless I hear otherwise.

Thanks again.

Aaron

PS. great color on your car. Mine is also Iris Blue but with Grey interior.

Cool I have a few....

Mind Over Motorsports, Mira Mesa, Tim Weiner
Mirage International, Mira Mesa, Jae Lee*
Pioneer Porsche, see mechanic Skip (I use Pioneer for factory repairs)
Black Forest, Kearney Mesa, see mechanic Mark Kinninger

All of these guys are top rate!

*Jae set up my kinematic toe...he is one of the few guys I know that have a handle on setting up kinematic toe on a lowered car.

I live down in central San Diego (North Park) so he's not only close but like I said "he's the best 993 overall guy I know" and as Martin stated "he's the go to guy for 993 suspension lowering and kinematic toe set up", but truth be known, I will have Mark Kinninger at Black Forest do my engine rebuild when the time comes.

I know you will be happy with Joe at European and be sure to tell him Joel Bowman says howdy!

Joel

PS: I'm bummed about your color (not) because till now, I had the only Iris Blue 993 in San Diego......LOL

Cool ++ on Mark Kinninger

Mark knows his stuff.....good guy and a hell of a quick driver. Unfortunate for his ego, or maybe not, his son is even quicker.

Default Bump +++

Can't say enough good about Tim and the boys at MOM: They have always been very helpful. Very few can fabricate as well as Tim. In addition Tim is a crew chief extraordinaire. +++ for MOM

If Jae Lee and Black Forest respond to this string, I'll have good things to say about them too. The above three (3) shops + Pioneer Porsche (Skip) are the 4 shops I have had 993 experience with in San Diego.

Cool Sad but true...

Tim Weiner et al have dissolved the shop. They had a decent run....it was my shop of choice for several years....I moved north, they went south, very south.
