new painted split spoiler question????
#16
faster,
good call on the "wall". I checked ot out last night and is split all across the top paortion, 1 inch down from the top. I will order one to replace it....
Not sure what u mean by "if you did not know this already is that the spoiler frame is already masked off and is not to be removed until paint work is complete", and do u have any pics of the nylon bushings?
he kit I ordered, is it assembled already, or is it in seperate parts? if not, do I assemble it before or after painting?

By the way, I have taken off and replaced the wings before. It is an easy job and can be done in less than an hour.

there is a portion of the spoiler frame that is the original black finish that they mask that off at the factory before they primer it, just tell your shop not to remove it until they are done painting it.
the bushing are a very thin nylon, if you look at your original spoiler where the 4 hex barrel screws attach you can see them, pop the out with a small straight screwdriver from the backside and just press them back in with your thumbs on the new frame. i waited until after paint to install mine so the friction surfaces didnt get any paint in them.
the kit will come in pieces, parts are already primed and ready for paint prep. which is the best so you can get good paint coverage everywhere.
the spoiler wall is a piece of cake to replace

just removed the old spoiler wall, thanks to faster's suggestion, and instruction s from "father of 3". Tomorrow I will order the new one. I hope the install is as easy as removing it....
I hope there is no problem driving around witout a spoiler wall for a few days. No long trips planned.

sam, send the new rear spoiler , two grills, center piece to a good paint shop.
let him see your car in the sun to match the paint (remember, grey is one of the tough to match)
should cost you 75 tops.
Wait a few days for the paint to cure.
Grab the workshop manual and follow the steps exactly, the proceedure is precisely explained.
I joined this thread to warn you NOT to drop anything in the engine. Cover the engine with
something (charchaf)
after, do a search to find how to calibrate the rear spoiler with the word "shims", I have written about it
several times

mine came with the adhesive kit, but not the rail, i whined a little, but only got it at cost, but i get everything at wholesale so not that big of savings, still had to buy the damn thing. now if you paid for the $300 + "kit" and was shorted the rail and the adhesive kit i would be a little pissy. like geolab said, enough is enough.
