Thanks.
The shocks should not open the lid all the way by themselves.
The proceedure should be:
After you pull on the T handle, the lid should dislock and raise about 1 centimeter or ~1/3 of an inch.
If your new shocks raise the lid by themselves all the way, replace 1 shock, and put another old one on. The shocks were similar to 964-993, there is even a date on each shock.
To make the lid open 1 centimeter, there is two rubber ***** on each side under the lid.
You have to adjust the height of those, whilst maintaining the lid aligned to the body of the car.
to raise the lid a bit while shut, turn these rubber ***** anti-clockwise a bit.
close the lid and test. The T-handle when pulled, should produce a pronounced CLICK, and the lid should raise 1/3 ".
Adjust the ***** anti-clockwise to raise, clockwise to lower the lid.
The thread on these rubber ***** is wide so go in slow trials.
When closing the lid, it should close easily when you let it go at a height of aprx 4 inches. If it doesn't, tighten clockwise a quarter of a turn and test.
You shouldn't need to press on the lid to close it, surely not hard, and if ever always with one hand on each side. Not with one hand in the middle.
After, when the lid does what it is supposed to do. go back 20-30 feet and look at the lid alignment with the body, If you do not see the continuity of the line from above the turn signals on both sides, adjust the ***** accordingly.
Remember not too tight, but not too loose.
At least, thats how I did mine.

By the way, the lid shuts and rests on these *****. So when the latch catches the lid, these ***** acts like springs to hold the lid tightly.
The rear lid does not hold down and rest ON the latch. This is why one should not push the lid down from the middle, because with time, you will bend the lid. The same applies to the front hood.

Thanks for the info. If both my shocks are dead, would it still raise 1 centimeter or ~1/3 of an inch?

Or would it only raise if the shocks are in working order?
