Default Need timely answers re: rear deck lid & spoiler, please

Hi there, I am looking at several 993s right now and have a question. This one car that I like has a 993 turbo tail on it. Not sure if it is a fiberglass unit or OEM. I don't like that so what would be my options to change it?

I like a smaller rear spoiler including the original one. I like the ducktail which is in the range of $500 + a grill at up to $100 + fit and paint. I would think a used original rear lid might be a good value but there are none on eBay and I don't know their pricing. Plus they are the heaviest option too I think. I do not want a big spoiler, RSR, GT wing, snorkels, etc etc. Plus those are up in the thousands in price anyhow.

So please give me some ideas as to what the least costly options would be so I can use that in my car buying decision - talking ballpark figures here. Thanks much.

just FYI if it is an OEM tail they are worth 2500-3000 on eBay or on Rlist classifieds. Do your homework to verify if it's a real tail or not. If it is you can sell it and put any tail you want on.

Hello Molly
I can tell you that an OEM complete Turbo wing is expensive. Prices are anywhere from $1800-$2500.00. You could probably sell your wing for cash and OEM original tail.
Good luck and post pictures.
Take care

I may have been a little strong. But on all my convesions really nice TT tails (the ones you want and the ones I buy) bring a premium. The prices you listed are really not that out of line and would result in a quick sale IMHO. Either way our points are on spot. If the TT tail is real he has some $$$$$ to play with.

Molly,
If you can remove the spoiler only and keep the decklid, I'll be glad to sell you my retractable spoiler mechanism for a fair price. I don't need it. Works fine, comes with everything you need; grill, motor, shims, et.c

If it is a real TT tail it is a 1 piece assembly. I think the aftermarket tails bolt on to the existing decklid.

Some do, but some are one piece like the OEM tails. It certainly isn't a good way to tell if it is OEM or not.

Thanks for the answers so far. The owner says he thinks it's aftermarket. I am seeing the car on Friday, if it's still around. I'll know more the.
