Stone Guards or no Stone Guards

Race Car
IMHO I would put new ones on. It is factory and keeps the quarters from being chipped. Cheaper to use the stone guards than paint your quarters down the road. New ones really freshen up the car.

I hit a rubber bungy with metal ends several months ago and it put a serious slit and went through the stone guard and a 3" (buffable Im sure) scrape in the paint. I guess I would have hate to see the results if I hadnt had them in the first place.
At least with black, I hardly even notice them anyway.
I have replacements now so I will probably end up putting them back on--once I do an external detail which is right around the corner.

Buff out the mark and put them back on, for sure. You'll thrash the paint otherwise. IIRC, someone mentioned here that 3m makes the guards too and that they are less visible but you have to confirm this.

I have the 3M ones---got them my 60k tune parts from Pelican.
To be honest, I didnt even know they were until I hit the bungy and I said to myself "What the hell is this plastic rip on the side of my car" I just assumed it was part of the design of the car.
Ok, it took me only 4 years to realize this but you learn something new every day. Im sure I would have been way more pissed to see the effect of metal on metal after hitting the bungy.
Ironically, just on the news this morning was a segment on crap on our roads. Utah spends $1.2million on picking up crap that falls on our roads each year. After living in Silicon Valley for a number of years, that amount is at least 50x worse. The "rubish" on the highways of NorCal I really hated. Utah is very clean state however we dont have the popluation of places like CA.

I'm a firm believer in stone guards just from the wear they get. I know a lot of people have gone to the 3M variety but I wonder over time if they will protect as well considering they are about two thirds as thick as stock. 8 mil vs 12 I believe.

Hey guys-
I need a little help. I'm trying to purchase a set of stone guards for my C4S. I did a search and found a thread that shows invica-shield.com as a source, but the website doesn't work. Did a little Google search and came up with invisible-mask.com. Is this the same stuff?, or does someone have a working invica shield link??
TIA

Burning Brakes
I took mine off last year with all intentins of replacing them. I've done 2 DEs since along with a full season's worth of driving and no additional damage. Iprobably will put new ones on at some point.
