Default steering wheels

Ok, the slope is getting a little steeper. After reading "The Ultimate 911" article a while back in "Total 911", I became enchanted with the description of the Sparco steering wheel in Stuart Speeds mint green 964 RS and now feel an urgent tug to get rid of the stock wheel and upgrade to something that'll be better for the track. Unfortunately, the author did not specify which model it was, nor was any photo good enough to discern (however, I've contacted the writer and he swears that he's on the hunt and will find out for me). I've looked online at a bunch of Sparcos (even though the consensus here seems to be Momo) and they all appear to be suede, except for the Monza, but they don't have it in black/black (could also live w/ black/grey or some variant). The Momo Mod 07 looks awesome, but it too appears to be suede.

It seems that Alcantara has better wear characteristics than suede. And if that's true, I'd rather have something in Alcantara. What other wheels are available with Alcantara? the Momo Mod 07 looks nice, but also appears to be suede. Any suggestions?

I suppose, if nothing fits the bill, I'll just get a suede wheel and recover in Alcantara when it becomes necessary.

Momo also has a Momo Mod.07 "SE" in leather. Here's mine (I dyed the yellow centering band black).

Shannon,

If you spend a good amount of time on the track, you won't regret the suede of a Momo Mod .07. I absolutely love this wheel and firmly believe that it has helped take my car control to another level, based on the rim thickness, wheel diameter and surface tactility.

Thanks much. Even though the leather would probably wear a lot better, I'm dead set on alcantara or suede, as you suggest Mark. The Mod 07 is probably going to be the one. However, I'm still going to "try" and wait for the writer, John Boggiano, from "Total 911" to get back to me to let me know specifically which Sparco was in that 964RS. His description of it was simply too glowing not to give it some consideration.

Mark, what kind of seats do you have? Are they adjustable at all, beside forward-backward?

I have GT3 shell seats. There is minimal adjustment. With the Brey-Krause side mounts, there is some limited adjustability for rake, but I had to out some washers under the front rail to add more in. Once it's set, though, I have never had a need to change the rake. I also removed the foam from the seat cushion for added headroom. My cage builder, Mitch Piper, is deleting the high stock sliders and adding lower Sparco sliders that will gain another inch of much needed headroom
