Thinking of doing this too.
Dumb question - is appbiz the same company/product as autos international?
Depending on your speaker setup and model year (95 vs others), I understand that the weight savings is approx 10lbs per door.

So, will a 964 panel fit a 993? I'm assuming it will but just want to be sure before I place the order.

TIA,
Mark,

I use them all the time and can personally vouch for the quality of thier work. If you saw first hand the cars they are working on any day you'd have no doubt. Strong recommendation from Mind Over Motorsports.

Thanks, Jordan! It's taken a week to pry out a price on the RS door panels, but it looks like they're about $290/pair. I'm probably only going to need one since I'm doing quasi-NASCAR-style bars for the driver's side. I may not need any door panels at all, but I have a feeling PCA will make me retain some semblance of a door panel for the passenger's side.

when i talked to the owner last week - he said the CF panels were slow sellers and was probably going to discontinue them in the future. Perf products also sells his stuff

+1 for Appbiz. I bought my RS door panels from them for my 3.2 Carrera. Excellent quality stuff and good customer service. Even got a personal call from the business owner just to clarify a few things and make sure I didn't make a mistake on my order. The added personal touch was a nice addition IMO. Just some words of wisdom though. After you cut the 2 holes out for the window switches on the driver's side, make sure you pay attention (unlike me) and don't cut out 2 holes on the passenger side as well. Hehe, now I need another window switch to block the extra hole.

or buy the stainless supports for the switches and have them install them for free (and cut out the door lock and what ever else you need.

For carbon fiber door panels, are there a pre-formed cutouts for window switches and speakers, or would I have to measure and lay them out myself? I assume that I could then just use a dremel to make and trim the openings?

Mark,

How did it turn out? $290/pair seems reasonable.

Hey Sam,

I ended up going with a modified NASCAR-style door bars. Mitch Piper removed the door panels and cut out the sheet metal behind the panerls to allow the bars into the door. They have a bit of a slant to facilitate ingress and egress. I lost the window motors, gearing, door locks and speakers. The stock glass is retained but has to be manually dropped out. Rainstorms and toll booths will never the be the same. I'll post pics later.

I think you can still order OE RS door panels and the little handle from Porsche???

If not I know a guy in Germany that has them. OE.
