Hi,
Working on my 993 tonight and noticed that my interior light does not light up when I unlock the car or open the doors. According to the manual, there are 3 positions for the light. Position "C" is when you want to turn on the light when car is unlocked or doors are opened. Position "A" is for the light to be on continuously. Position "B" is for the light to be off all of the time. What I get is a continuous "light on" situation when the light is in position C or A. Position "B" works as it's supposed to.
Any suggestions on how to fix? Would like to have my lights come on when I unlock the car of open the doors.
Thanks,
Eric

In the position where the lights turn off with the door shutting, it isn't immediate...it will shut off after a period of time or when you lock the door. Are you sure it isn't just staying on because you didn't give it time or not lock the door right away?

i gave it over 5 minutes. The manual says 20 seconds, so I think I gave enough time. I'll try it again and see what happens. Thanks for the feedback.

Mine does this intermitently aswell - it was commented on at my last service - from memory I think they said to take out the light unit itself and clean the contacts? Apparently the light unit was missing its gasket and was told that a small amout of moisture gets in and makes for a bad contact. Being extremely lazy I haven't done anything about it yet! Good luck with yours

You might also want to check that your fron hood switch is working. The roof light will stay on and will not go off if the hood is open, so if you have a bad hood switch, it would fool the system into thinking that the hood is open and keeping your roof light on. To test it, just manually jump the switch to ground, if it is the switch, your light will go off.

Thanks Cabrio993. I just checked and my front hood light is not working, either. Are the two related, or can I buy a front hood swtich and see if that takes care of the problem?

Thanks for all of the help everyone. I cleaned the contacts and now the interior light is working fine. Now I have to work on the front hood switch.
